John Luongo is a retired NYPD Sergeant with extensive experience in the
service industry encompassing both the public and private sector. His assignments
in the NYPD included challenging and diverse assignments interacting with all of the
many different communities that New York City is comprised of. His career in the NYPD
started on patrol in Greenwich Village then progressed to the Precinct Detective Squad,
the Organized Crime Control Bureau as an undercover and then to management in charge
of the high profile Broadway Squad which was responsible for the protection of the many
thousands of businesses, patrons, celebrities and tourists that work in and visit the
Theater District in New York City each day. Upon leaving the NYPD Mr. Luongo started a
new career as the Director of Security in North America for the Royal Family of Brunei.
He was based in the New York Palace Hotel and placed on the Executive Committee.
Mr. Luongo was responsible for overseeing operations both in the New York Palace Hotel,
the Bel Air Hotel in California and various private interests owned by the family
reporting directly to the owner's representatives. This included all aspects of guest
services, budget allocations, interviewing and hiring, discipline and arbitration hearings,
inventory control and insurance reviews including both liability and workers compensation
claims. During this time workers compensation claims at the hotels dropped seventy percent
(70%) and theft reports were brought down more than eighty percent (80%). Shortly after
leaving the Royal Family Mr. Luongo has opened and successfully owned and operated
several small businesses guiding them from infancy stages to million dollar operations.
